Students will work with a partner on the nervous system review and we will finish and go over tomorrow in class to get ready for the test on MOnday.
Activity #4 Reaction Time
Students will do an activity which will compare the reaction time between boys and girls.  We will finish this in class today.

The nervous system crossword will serve as a vocabulary review and it is due Thursday when the students arrive in class.

Students will read pages 622-633 in the parrot book and answer the questions.  They will start today and finish in class after the activity tomorrow.

Students will watch a video on the nervous system and fill in the questions on the video guide.
Unit III Vocabulary Quiz #1
Students will take vocabulary quiz #1 on the nervous system.  They will also begin work on Activity #4 the path of a nerve impulse which will be due next Wednesday February 9th
Activity #3 Neuron/Synapse Drawing
Students will draw and label the parts of a neuron and a synapse.  This is due tomorrow so you will have some homework.

Students will take notes on the nervous system structure and function.  We will finish these up tomorrow.
Computer Lab Nervous System
Students will use internet sites to navigate through a worksheet about the structure and function of the nervous system.  We will finish up tomorrow in the lab if needed.
Unit III Vocabulary Part I
Students will start to define the vocabulary they will encounter during the nervous system unit we are starting today. The words are due on Friday 2/4 Mitosis Drawings are due today.  I will be handing out a sleep journal that must be completed by next Monday.  It will be for one week and is essential for you to do.  You will use the data to create spreadsheets in math, and for other assignments so don't forget to do it.
Cell Unit Test
Students will work on the cell unit test today and tomorrow.  It will cover chapters 3 and 4 in the textbook.  They should be studying their study guides.  This grade will count on the second quarter grade.
Unit II Review
Students will work on the unit II review for the cell test.
Activity 6 Mitosis Drawings
Students will work on Activity 6 today  through Monday of next week in class.  They must draw and label each stage of mitosis and write a caption for each drawing describing the events during the stage.  This activity is due on Wednesday January 26th and will count on the third quarter grade.
Chapter 4 Quiz
Students will take a quiz today on chapter 4 sections 1 and 2, activity #4 and the stages of mitosis.
Finish Activity 5 Onion Tip Mitosis
Students will finish their drawings and tally the number of cells in each stage
Unit II vocabulary Quiz #5
Students will take vocabulary quiz and then finish Activity #5 mitosis in onion tips.  If time permits powerpoint presentation on the steps of mitosis.

Students will work on chapter 4 sections 1 and 2 to understand some of the processes that go on in a cell.  This is due tomorrow at the beginning of the period.
Activity #4 comparing plant and animal cells
The students will be lorking on a lab Tuesday and Wednesday where they will be looking at cheek cells, onion cells and elodea cells comparing and contrasting plant and animal cells.  They will be introduced to proper staining techniques and practice making microscope drawings.

Students will need to know all parts and function, procedure for focusing, clean up and wet mount slides.  Students should also know the power of each objective and ocular as well as the procedure for figuring out total magnification of their microscopes.

Activity #1 Tool of a Life Scientist
Students wioll be woring on a microscope lab from 11/9-11/15.  Students will be able to name the parts and functions of their compund microscopes, the procedures for handling, focusing and cleaning up after usindg the microscopes.  The students will practice focusing and learn the proper procedure for doing microscope drawings.
